Itinerary

 Day One

Arrival and welcome

Everyone meets at the Bike & Boot at 11:45am on Saturday 12th, a short greeting, a run-through of the plan, sort out equipment and a gentle check-in on how everyone feels about heights and new skills before heading to the climb site.

Warm-up and movement basics

A light warm-up to wake up the joints and get people tuned into balance. Simple footwork games, learning how to move efficiently, and recognising that climbing is more about technique than strength.

Safety introduction

Harness fitting, tying in, basic knots, how to communicate clearly with a partner, and how belaying works.

First climbs

Short, easy routes to get used to the feeling of being on the wall. Everyone takes turns belaying.

A short break

A pause for snacks, questions, and a bit of reflection.

Abseil introduction

You run through the abseil setup from the ground, how the device works, how the rope is backed up, and what “leaning back” really means in practice. This demystifies the whole process.

Abseil experience

One by one, participants make their first controlled descent. You manage the safety from above or below, giving calm guidance as they ease into the rhythm: steady steps, soft knees, relaxed shoulders. It’s usually the moment people surprise themselves the most.

Cool down and reflection

A stretch, a debrief, and time to celebrate progress. People often surprise themselves with what they’ve achieved.

Hotel & Dinner

We'll head back to our accommodation The Bike & Boot in Hope, check into our rooms and have a hearty dinner together in the restaurant and chat about the day before getting a good nights sleep.

 Day Two

Breakfast & Check Out

We'll start the day with a good breakfast and then proceed to check out of the hotel so we can continue the climbing without any distractions.

Skills-enhancement morning 09:00-13:00. This session builds on what you learned the previous day.

Second Climb & Technique focus

Participants try different routes, slightly varied styles and a gentle dive into beginner essentials: using foot edges, weight-shifting, keeping hips close to the wall, efficient hand placements.

Movement coaching

More deliberate technique practice: silent feet, stable body positions, finding rest points, and planning a route before climbing it.

Wrap-up

Personal feedback, what to practise next, and guidance for anyone wanting to continue their climbing journey.
